This is a small selection of some of the projects carried out by RnH Technical Ltd.
We have, of course done more than these, but this gives an idea of the scope of works we can undertake.
Pride of Bilbao, Safety Works
RnH was contracted to update the fire door system to include the fire doors to the internal service lifts. This involved gaining access via removal of deckheads and running cables to the door controls and inside the service lift shafts to operate the fire doors which protected the lift shaft in case of fire. We had to link this into the ships fire alarm system so the doors would operate within their designated fire zones and so they could be controlled from the bridge. All these doors were completed, tested and commissioned within a 2 week period.
Ocean Village 2 / Pacific Jewel, Conversion Refit, Project Management
Graham Bulpett (RnH Director) was asked by Carnival UK to assist Carnival Australia in the refit conversion of Ocean Village 2 to Pacific Jewel in Singapore. We were in control of the A60 fire integrity, specifically the ships A60 deck head system, so if the deck heads are not all up, the ship cannot sail. With the amount of work being undertaken by an international mixture of companies on this conversion this was a huge task. We worked with a large squad of joiners and organised the removal and reinstatement of the deck head system throughout the entire ship. This was a challenging project which required a large amount of organisational skills and forward planning and I am pleased to say the ship sailed on time with all the deckheads in place.
Parkway Interiors, Workshop Refurbishment
RnH were instructed by this company to carry out works within their new joinery workshop in Romsey, Hampshire. We installed the new machinery, lighting and small power to the new workshop.
Ocean Village/Pacific Pearl Conversion Refit
RnH were delighted to be working with Carnival Australia direct, with our new status as preferred supplier with this company after our performance on the Pacific Jewel, Carnival Australia awarded us a varied amount of project work and work squads for the refit in Singapore followed by supplying a riding crew to sail to Auckland, New Zealand to prepare the ship for its naming ceremony and inaugural cruise. With over 900 cabins to work in, RnH Electricians changed every socket in every passenger cabin from UK 3 pin to Australian 3 pin, our Joiners worked alongside moving into every cabin removing the old wood shelves which also housed the TV bracket and replacing them, every cabin was then fitted with a new TV. On top of this RnH also provided Carnival Australia with large Electrical and Plumbing work squads, a general "floating" work squad and 3 managers to control the different disciplines. This proved to be an extremely successful refit for us with Carnival Australia directly.
Pacific Sun Refit
Carnival Australia invited RnH to travel to Australia to provide them with our services on the refit of the Pacific Sun in Brisbane dry dock. We provided a large Joinery work squad to carry out a range of works which included replacing windows to the outside of the ship, replacing teak doorframes on the outside deck areas and totally stripping and renovating a communal crew shower area with new bulkhead and divider panels, this sort of project is something RnH excel in as we have the team management skills in house to cope with all these different disciplines, we worked everywhere from fixing flower pots into their desired positions to working on the propeller shaft sensors working in the shaft tunnels, not many companies can boast such diversity. This was complimented by small Electrical and Plumbing work squads carrying out their usual repairs for the ship while supporting the Joiners. RnH sent 2 Managers to start this, Shaun Wills and Mark Walker, Mark stayed till the end while Shaun's expertise was required elsewhere. Carnival Australia have discovered that these work squads are not only cost effective but are an exceedingly efficient and very difficult to do without on the major refits, and, as RnH have the management expertise in all the disciplines required, we make the obvious choice for this sort of work..
